DePaul has finished last in the Big East each of the past four seasons, compiling a 5-67 in conference play, but a 31-23 record in non-conference games.
However, the Blue Demons may not have to deal with the UConns, Syracuses and Louisvilles of the world multiple times a year anymore.
A report out of the Big East mentions seven teams non-football schools are debating leaving the conference, including Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall, Villanova and, of course, DePaul.
The reason for this comes back to money, like everything else in the world.
The Big East's new TV deal is not as rich as it was once believed to be, meaning the non-football schools will be making a whole lot less than they were originally supposed to, before Louisville, Rutgers, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Syracuse announced they were leaving the conference.
Nobody knows where the seven schools would go from here, but one option is potentially starting a basketball-only conference for teams without FBS-level football programs, inviting teams like Butler, VCU, Saint Louis, Dayton, Creighton, George Mason and Xavier.
