Former Bears running back Kahlil Bell signed with the New York Jets after working out with the team Tuesday afternoon.

Bell, was with the Bears in training camp, but was waived on Aug. 23 after refusing to take a salary reduction. He returned to the Bears in September when Matt Forte sustained an injury, but was officially waived on Oct. 15.

In 22 career games, Bell has rushed for 557 yards, accumulated 137 receiving yards and has one touchdown.

The 25-year-old came into the NFL after going undrafted out of UCLA in 2009.

The Jets are in need of running back depth with Joe McKnight out with a high ankle sprain and Bilal Powell suffering a concussion against the Seahawks.
