NCAA: Huskies win 9th straight, ISU tied up in MVC

Northern Illinois 63, Massachusetts 0

DEKALB, Ill. (AP) Jordan Lynch threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, Matt McIntosh threw for one and ran for two and Northern Illinois coasted in its defeat of winless Massachusetts 63-0 Saturday afternoon.

Lynch was 15 of 19 for 191 yards. He also had 15 carries for 157 yards, averaging 10.5 yards per carry. McIntosh had seven carries for 45 yards, including the two touchdowns. He threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Angelo Sebastiano. Akeem Daniels, Martel Moore, Keith Harris and kicker Mathew Sims also added to the scoreboard.

Mike Wegzyn was 16 of 28 for 137 yards for the Minutemen (0-9, 0-5, Mid-American). Marken Michel had six receptions for 42 yards and 6 kickoff returns for 77 yards, and Michael Cox had 25 carries for 81 yards. Perry McIntyre had a sack and eight tackles.

Northern Illinois (9-1, 6-0) has won 20 consecutive home games at Huskie Stadium.


Illinois State 17, Indiana State 10

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) Darrelynn Dunn rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown and Tyrone Walker had seven catches for 120 yards and a score as Illinois State defeated Indiana State 17-10 on Saturday.

The Redbirds (8-2, 5-2 Missouri Valley) won their seventh straight road game.

Shakir Bell rushed for 115 yards on 22 carries, and Mike Perish was 20 of 40 passing for 182 yards and a TD for the Sycamores (7-3, 5-2).


Northern Iowa 40, Western Illinois 0

MACOMB, Ill. (AP) Sawyer Kollmorgen threw three touchdown passes and the Northern Iowa defense held Western Illinois to just 172 total yards for a 40-0 victory on Saturday.

Northern Iowa (3-6, 2-4 Missouri Valley) also rushed for 303 yards. David Johnson picked up 149 with a TD.

Northern Iowa's defense stymied Western Illinois (3-6, 1-5) by coming up with four sacks and picking off two passes, one that was returned by Garrett Scott for a 20-yard TD.

Eastern Illinois 31, Tennessee Tech 24

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Jimmy Garoppolo completed 27 of 41 passes for 376 yards, three touchdowns and an interception to propel Eastern Illinois past Tennessee Tech 31-24 Saturday.

Trailing 10-0, Garappolo's 61-yard pass to Chavar Watkins put Eastern Illinois (6-3, 5-1 Ohio Valley Conference) on the board and cut the deficit to 10-7 at halftime.

Garappolo's strong second half proved to be the difference. He found Keiondre Gober early in the third quarter on a 2-yard pass to take the lead 14-10.


South Dakota State 16, Southern Illinois 12

CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) Austin Sumner tossed a 5-yard touchdown pass to Trevor Tiefenthaler with seven seconds left in the game as South Dakota State rallied to defeat Southern Illinois 16-12 on Saturday.

South Dakota State (6-2, 5-1 Missouri Valley) also got field goals of 28, 41 and 33 yards from Justin Syrovatka.

Sumner was sacked six times, but still managed to complete 26 of 25 passes for 284 yards.
