It's not the Gold Glove, but Darwin Barney has still earned a postseason accolade for his fielding prowess Thursday.

The 26-year-old infielder won the 2012 Fielding Bible Award for second basemen, beating out the 2011 winner, Dustin Pedroia.

A panel of 10 analysts -- including former Cub Doug Glanville, whose name is being floated around as a potential replacement for Bob Brenly in the TV booth -- voted on the best defensive players at each position much the same way writers vote for MVP winners with 10 points for first place, nine points for second place, etc.

Barney garnered 96 of a possible 100 points while Pedroia totaled 82. The Cubs second baseman saved 28 runs on defense in 2012, almost double that of Robinson Cano and Alexi Casilla (15), the runners-up.

The rest of the 2012 Fielding Bible Award winners are as follows:

1B: Mark Teixeira, NYY
3B: Adrian Beltre, TEX
SS: Brendan Ryan, SEA
LF: Alex Gordon, KC
CF: Mike Trout, LAA
RF: Jason Heyward, ATL
C: Yadier Molina, STL
P: Mark Buehrle, MIA

Bill James, Joe Posnanski and Peter Gammons are some of the notable names that make up the 10-person panel.
