Chicago fans have been seeing the Kerry Wood/Andre Dawson commercial for months, but now the State Farm spot is garnering national recognition during the MLB playoffs.

Mike Berardino wrote a column
for the Sun Sentinel Sunday on the ad spot and talked to Dawson, who is currently working as a special assistant with the Marlins (h/t HardballTalk)

"It's been off the charts," Dawson said of the reaction. "Everywhere I go, people are saying, 'Hey, I saw the commercial. Good job.' Now I've got more friends than I can imagine."

Berardino also goes into detail on how the commercial came to fruition, which is very interesting. The State Farm spot was actually filmed at Wrigley Field and just used some extra ivy to cover up that door in right-center.

It's a great commercial (with the exception of the creepy guy pushing the wheelbarrow in the background. Seriously, why is his hat so low?). Just like there are people living in the scoreboard, there really is stuff in the ivy. Check it out in the Making Of video:

Genius.
